چکیده

The aim of this work is to build CFD tools study heat transfer in packed beds during the thermochemical upgrading process woody biomass. For that purpose, a numerical workflow capable investigating phenomena inside bed was developed. First, generated using Discrete Element Method (DEM) code. Then, steady-state Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) solver used acquire flow patterns pores bed. Finally, equation solved for particles and fluid coupled manner. results are thoroughly validated against two benchmark cases: around sphere through spheres. importance accounting internal resistance substrates with high Biot number (e.g. wood) highlighted. Furthermore, torrefied wood chips investigated. Values coefficient also provided (?5 W/m2/K, Re ¡ 5, 7.7 = 10). Another interesting finding effect channeling type its impact on temperature field chips.

Evaluation of Eulerian Two-Fluid Numerical Method for the Simulation of Heat Transfer in Fluidized Beds

Accurate modeling of fluidization and heat transfer phenomena in gas-solid fluidized beds is not solely dependent  on the particular selected numerical model and involved algorithms. In fact, choosing the right model for each specific operating condition, the correct implementation of each model, and the right choice of parameters and boundary conditions, determine the accuracy of the results i...
